Video walkthrough of how to create a custom recipe
Creating a custom recipe in CoreCoach allows you to log your own food and also provide specific meals for your clients.
To create a custom recipe:
Navigate to the Nutrition tab.
Select the Recipes tab.
Press the + Recipe button.
Step 1 – Choose How to Create Your Recipe
On this screen, you’ll decide how you want to add your recipe:
Manual Entry – Type in all the details yourself, including the recipe name, ingredients, and nutrition info.
Photo – Upload a photo of the recipe or dish, and the app will use AI to pull in the details for you.
For this resource, we are going to use manual entry.
Step 2 - Adding Ingredients
On this page, you’ll start adding the foods that make up your recipe.
Tap + Add ingredient to search for a food and choose the correct serving size. You can also add an optional description (like “diced” or “chopped”) if needed.
Each ingredient you add will appear in the list, showing the quantity, serving size, and any notes you included. You can edit or delete an ingredient at any time. The total number of ingredients and total weight of your recipe will update automatically at the top.
Once you’ve added all your ingredients, press Next to continue.
Step 3- Preparation Instructions
This is where you add step-by-step instructions for your recipe. Keep the directions clear and simple so it’s easy to follow.
You can:
Write numbered steps (1, 2, 3…)
Use bullet points for quick actions
Add optional formatting with markdown for things like bold, italic, or lists
When you’re done, tap Next to continue.
Step 4 - Weight and Servings
On this page, you set how much the recipe weighs in total and how many servings it makes.
Total recipe weight → Enter the full weight of the recipe once prepared.
Default serving → Give the serving a name (e.g., “serving”, “bowl”, “slice”).
Servings per recipe → Enter how many servings the recipe makes.
CoreCoach will automatically calculate the weight of each serving based on what you enter.
You can also add extra serving sizes (for example, ½ serving or 100g portions) by tapping Add serving size.
When finished, tap Next to continue.
Step 5 - Recipe Details
On this page, you add the final details for your recipe so it’s easier to find and log later.
Recipe photo → Upload or choose a photo that represents your recipe.
Recipe name → Give your recipe a clear name.
Recipe description → Optionally, add a short description (e.g., flavour, style, or notes).
When ready, tap Next to save these details and move on.
Step 6 - Recipe Summary
This is the final summary page of your recipe. Here you’ll see everything pulled together in one place:
Recipe title & photo – the name of your dish and the image you added.
Ingredients list – all the items you entered with their amounts.
If you tick “Show mapped food details”, you’ll also see the exact food database items and serving conversions that were used (e.g., 250x gram (1g) = 250g).
If it’s unticked, you’ll just see the clean list of ingredients.
Preparation section – any cooking or serving instructions you wrote for the recipe.
Once you press Finish, the recipe is saved and you can now view it under the Recipes tab in your Nutrition section.
Completed custom recipe
You can now click on the recipe in the list to open the recipe summary.
From here, you can:
Edit recipe – make changes to the ingredients, details, or instructions.
Log recipe – quickly add the recipe to your food log.
Delete recipe – remove it from your saved recipes.
To access these options, just tap the three dots in the top right corner of the screen.
